Letter from the President

Dear Members,
We hope all of you are keeping safe and well in this current crisis. Our main priority is for our families and loved ones to pull through it safely. The Pembroke 2020 season officially commences on the 13th April when the ground and pavilion is handed over to us by Monkstown FC. The conditions we are experiencing as a nation are extraordinary and no-one could have foreseen all forms of amateur and professional sport worldwide being cancelled until further notice. In conjunction with Cricket Ireland and the other Provincial Unions, Cricket Leinster has decided to suspend all cricket related activities until the 28th May 2020 and this course of action is fully supported by Pembroke CC.
The 2019 season seems like a long time ago now. Winning the double of the All Ireland Cup and the Premier League was momentous and we all have very special memories of those days. The Club performed well at all levels including our vibrant U11 boys and girls who won the All Ireland Cup. We also hosted many high profile games and will continue to do so in the coming years. Hosting the Leinster v Middlesex game on a sunny June evening was a particularly proud moment for us all.
The last few weeks have dramatically changed all of the plans the committee had for the coming season and presents us with a number of challenges. We will need the help of the members in many ways to maximise our facilities and services when the Government gives us the go ahead to safely resume activities. We are retaining all of our staff and grounds personnel although they are working at reduced capacity at the moment. I would be very grateful if you could play your part in whatever way you can.
Even though the club will remain closed in the coming weeks, Pembroke still has financial outgoings which we have to honour. These include Cricket Leinster affiliation fees, ground expenses, rates, insurance etc. Our revenues from the bar and events will be hugely reduced this year and some may not happen at all. You can really help our club by paying your annual subscription if at all possible. We fully understand if members are not in a position to do so and any contribution is very welcome.
Work has been continuing by your committee to ensure we can commence all activities when it is safe to do so. Our aim is to run our club as cost effectively as possible while maintaining high standards and services for our members and guests.
A priority of the club is to ensure that any vulnerable members know that there is support available to them. If you are aware of anyone needing assistance please let us know and we will do anything we can while adhering to HSE guidelines.
Happy Easter!
